SCHOLARSHIPS

Education and Professional Development Scholarships

The Southwest Washington Chapter of Credit Unions is a not-for-profit cooperative of volunteers from several credit unions located in Clark and Cowlitz Counties.  We support our member credit unions in the areas of:
  • Development of future leaders
  • Education and training of staff
  • Advocacy for the credit union not-for-profit difference
  • Our shared commitment to improving our communities

​This scholarship opportunity is for any education or professional development that falls within the outlined areas.  
Terms and Conditions
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and applicants are notified of determination within 30 days of application receipt. Approval letters will state the scholarship award amount.
  • Applicants must be an employee of a current dues paying Chapter Member. 
  • Group applications are not accepted. Scholarships are awarded to sole recipients only.
  • Scholarship applications must be received prior to the date of the event for which the applicant is applying for scholarship funding.
  • Applicants may request up to $500 per year for continuing education courses.  The chapter may award more than this amount if there are funds available. 
  • Program scholarships are awarded as reimbursements to the credit union of the applicant. The scholarship recipient must use awarded funds for the sole purpose(s) stated on the application. Scholarships are nontransferable. 
Qualifying expenses include
  • Event registration
  • Lodging (excludes room upgrades)
  • Food (excludes alcoholic beverages)
  • Airfare (excludes first class upgrades)
  • Ground transportation
  • Mileage.  Please provide a Google map print out with the departure location and arrival location withyour Reimbursement and Impact Report. You will be reimbursed at published states reimbursement rate.  (The 2019 rate is .58 per mile.)   https://www.waswd.org/general/page/internal-revenue-service-business-mileage-rate-increase-2019​

Itemized receipts are required.

To receive a scholarship reimbursement, the recipient must submit invoices with itemized receipts to the SW WA Chapter of Credit Union’s Board Chair within 60 days of the course / event’s conclusion date.  Failure to comply with this deadline will result in automatic and total scholarship forfeiture.
